In Cold Blood...

Saw Capote today. I totally agree with [info]dragonsnow ( see [info]mersmovies ). Philip Seymour Hoffman was magnificent. He truly deserves the Oscar. Saw Walk The Line and, though I love Joaquin, his performance didn't come close to Hoffman's in my opinion. Having read the book and seen the movie In Cold Blood at the time, I was especially interested to see the process Capote used to get his story. The book, the movie, and now Capote left me totally affected, and I know this movie will stay will me for a long time. It should be noted that when the ICB was made, it was soon enough after the fact that they used the same courthouse, the same jurors and the same execution chamber from the time and place of the crimes. Also, the relationship of Capote and Harper Lee was of interest to me, since To Kill A Mockingbird rates as both my favorite book and movie of all time. And that's saying a lot.

Note: Apropos of nothing, Joaquin is half a foot shorter than Johnny was, and Philip Seymour Hoffman is half a foot taller than Capote was.
