Palin Joke

I take no credit, heard it on NPR:

A young man asks his uncle what he thinks of McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate.

The Uncle answers: "Well Sarah Palin is like a post turtle."

Nephew: "What's a 'post turtle'?"

Uncle: "Well, see, it's like you're driving down the road and you see a turtle on top of a fence post. You know it didn't get there by itself. You know it doesn't belong there. You know it's wondering what it's going to do now that it's up there. And then you wonder, 'What dumbass put that turtle up there in the first place?'"

And the beat goes on.....

There was a period of time during which, about 2 or 3 times a week I would take [info]dragonsnow and [info]geckoboy after dinner to Dairy Queen. Next to DQ was a music store, first called "Q" and eventually "Specs". We would go there first and [info]dragonsnow and [info]geckoboy were allowed to pick out one 45 record each. Of course at that age they were hugely influenced by their parents, and there was a lot of Motown and 60's stuff. As a result, we have a LOT of vinyl. No turntable to play it on but....

Anyway, vinyl gave way to CD's and the kids got older, and the tradition eventually went by the wayside.

Driving by that strip mall the other day I noticed Specs is gone, totally and completely. I can't remember the last time I was in there, but still, *sigh*.
